the problem
Crypto had broken through into mainstream awareness, but mainstream retail investors still weren't putting serious money in. The barrier wasn't access. It was trust, jargon, and a complete absence of any product that behaved like a responsible investment vehicle rather than a speculative casino.
The instinctive response would have been to simplify the complexity: better charts, cleaner wallets, a nicer UI bolted onto the same speculative infrastructure. That would have built yet another crypto app for people who already understand crypto.
We made a different bet: the users we needed to reach didn't want to understand crypto. They wanted a reliable way to invest in it, the same way they invest in a mutual fund, without being forced to become experts in decentralised protocol management. The design had to do the thinking for them, then earn enough trust that they'd actually hand over money.
The reframe: Stop designing a crypto app. Design a disciplined investment product that happens to hold crypto.
the solution
The mechanism / flow:
User signs up โ Frictionless email/phone entry, no wallet setup, no seed phrase
KYC in under 3 minutes โ Progressive disclosure: collect only what's legally required at each step
Choose a basket โ Three pre-built crypto index options (conservative, balanced, growth)
Set a SIP amount โ Weekly or monthly automated investment, minimum ticket size designed to feel accessible
Portfolio auto-rebalances โ No user action required; system handles drift correction
Educational nudge โ Contextual explainers triggered at moments of hesitation, not front-loaded
Track, not trade โ Dashboard shows growth over time, not live price ticks deliberately
